it is hard to believe that I got back from Nicaragua 3 weeks ago. My head is still spinning from the trip. It was an amazing 10 days that I will not soon forget. I think the best way yo sum up the trip is to look at two different days – Tuesday and Sunday. Tuesday we met up with the campers and staff we would be spending out time with. We met at Pastor Norman’s school in Managua and tried to get acquainted. We were pretty disconnected due to the language barrier. I am very relational and this was very frustrating for me. The night was great, but still tough. Fast forward to Sunday…the seven hour drive back from our camp. The drive flew by. Everyone was singing, laughing and just enjoying being together. You would never have guessed this back on Tuesday. One of the things that helped us get to this point was the volcano hike. The hike took 9.5 hours and we we finished, we had done something huge and we did it together. From that point on our group was bonded. We were family. It was amazing. It was life changing.

This summer I go back to Nicaragua, and I can’t wait. I will be taking a team of 36 this time with the purpose of doing work projects and running a VBS for Emerson’s family orphanage. It too will be amazing.
